On 15 May 2026 at 18:30, the Museum of Ethnography will present the opening of Belarus. With Love, a memorial exhibition dedicated to the Belarusian photographer Vladimir Sharnikov.
The exhibition features a selection of photographs exploring Belarusian cultural landscape, rural life, and vernacular traditions. Sharnikov’s images focus on village architecture, regional environments, and everyday scenes observed during his extensive travels across Belarus — subjects that formed the foundation of his photographic practice for decades.
Working in the tradition of documentary and ethnographic photography, Vladimir Sharnikov created an important visual archive of Belarusian life and cultural memory. His photographs preserve fragile traces of disappearing places, local identities, and ways of life, combining documentary precision with a deeply personal and humanistic взгляд on his subjects.
Belarus. With Love offers an opportunity to revisit the author’s photographic legacy and to reflect on the role of photography as a medium of cultural preservation and historical testimony.
The exhibition will be on view from 15 to 31 May 2026.
