Valery Nevmerzhitsky: Library Atlas
On 19 May 2026, at 16:00, the Atrium Gallery of the National Library of Belarus will host the opening of Library Atlas, a photographic exhibition marking the 20th anniversary of the library’s iconic building.

The project offers a visual exploration of the National Library of Belarus through the lens of Belarusian photographer Valery Nevmerzhitsky. Bringing together 30 monochrome photographs, the exhibition captures the institution’s everyday rhythms – from reading rooms and archival preservation to exhibition openings, экскурсии, public programs, and the inner workings of the library’s research and information services.

Working in black and white, the artist emphasizes the building’s architectural language: its geometry, structural rhythm, light, lines, and spatial contrasts. Through a restrained visual aesthetic, the library emerges not only as an architectural landmark, but as a living cultural organism shaped by memory, knowledge, and time.

Library Atlas presents the National Library of Belarus as both document and symbol – a timeless space where cultural heritage is preserved and continuously reinterpreted for future generations.
