Vadim Kachan: Connection of Eras – Belarus in the Frame of History

On October 9, 2025, the National Center for Contemporary Arts hosted the public presentation of The Connection of Eras: Belarus in the Frame of History, a new photo album by the renowned Belarusian photographer Vadim Kachan.

Vadim Kachan has been engaged in creative photography since 1979. He lives and works in Minsk. Over the course of his career, he has participated in more than 150 art exhibitions, including 23 solo shows held in 11 countries around the world. He is a laureate of the National Fine Arts Award (in the category Art Photography), Grand Prix winner, and recipient of numerous national and international prizes. Kachan is the author of four photo albums and multiple publications in books, educational materials, and specialized art magazines. He was also the first Chairman and Honorary Member of the Belarusian Association of Photographers.

The idea for the new album The Connection of Eras was born within the walls of the National Center for Contemporary Arts following the group exhibition Breaking the Silence. The publication was made possible with the support of the mobile communications company MTS, which served as the project’s general sponsor.

The presentation included an artist talk with Vadim Kachan, where he shared insights into the project’s concept, reflected on the role of visual memory, and discussed photography as a vital artistic testimony of its time.
