On 21 March 2026, the Grodno Exhibition Hall will open the conceptual photography exhibition “Fluxism – Your Trace in the Universe” by Belarusian artist, choreographer, and philosopher Sergey Mikhalyuk. The project introduces a new authorial direction in contemporary photography – Fluxism.
At the core of the project lies the idea of the human trace in space. Using long exposure, light-motor dynamics, and the artist’s method of “blind shooting,” Mikhalyuk creates images in which the human figure dissolves into streams of light and movement. Photography here moves beyond the simple recording of an object and becomes a visual trace of a lived moment.
Fluxism proposes a new perspective on photography in an era saturated with digital imagery. Within this practice, the camera functions not as an instrument of control but as a mediator of perception, capturing not merely the external world but the inner state and the energy of movement.
Sergey Mikhalyuk works at the intersection of photography, performative practice, and philosophical inquiry into visual culture. His artistic language developed through the convergence of photography and choreography, where bodily movement becomes a central element in the creation of the image. The project “Fluxism” continues the trajectory of contemporary conceptual art that explores new forms of visual experience and the evolving boundaries of the photographic medium.
The exhibition in Grodno will be among the first public presentations of the Fluxism project and will introduce audiences to a new direction in contemporary Belarusian photography.
