Elenka Donbrova: “On an Unnamed Height” in Gomel.

On 12 June 2026 at 17:00, the Museum of Printing and Photography History of the Gomel Region will open the solo exhibition On an Unnamed Height by Belarusian photographer, curator, and researcher Elenka Donbrova.

The project presents a photographic exploration of war memorials and monuments dedicated to the soldiers of the Second World War across Belarus. Developed from long-term research into memorial culture and commemorative landscapes, the exhibition examines monuments as sites of memory embedded within the historical and cultural fabric of the country.

Through documentary photography, Donbrova investigates the relationship between memorial architecture, landscape, and collective remembrance. The project considers how commemorative sites continue to shape public memory and preserve historical experience within contemporary space.

Elenka Donbrova’s artistic practice focuses on cultural memory, historical landscapes, and the phenomenon of place. Working at the intersection of documentary photography and artistic research, she explores the ways in which traces of the past remain present within the visual environment.
